제니 변호사는 뉴질랜드의 크라이스트처치와 퀸스타운에서 법조계 경력을 시작한 후, 1987년에 호주로 이주하여 경력을 이어왔습니다. 이후 기업 매매, 임대차, 프랜차이즈 관련 법률 자문을 제공했으며, 빅토리아주 법률협회(Law Institute of Victoria)에서 최초로 ‘소상공인 전문 변호사 (Small Business Specialist)’로 인증받은 여성 법조인이 되었습니다. 프랜차이즈 법에 대한 제니 변호사의 전문성은 학계와 실무 전반에 걸쳐 높이 평가받고 있습니다. 제니 변호사는 실사(due diligence), 분쟁 해결, 마케팅 기금, 가맹본부 파산, 신의성실(good faith) 등 다양한 주제를 중심으로 활발한 연구와 저술, 강연 활동을 이어왔으며, 호주, 프랑스, 미국의 프랜차이즈 법 관련 연구를 지도하고 있습니다. 또한 스웨덴과 네덜란드에서 제출된 프랜차이즈 관련 박사 논문의 심사위원으로도 활동한 바 있습니다. 2020년에는 UNSW(뉴사우스웨일스 대학교)에서 명예교수(Professor Emeritus)로 임명되었으며, 현재는 UNSW 로스쿨에서 민사법 원칙(Principles of Private Law)을 강의하고 있습니다. 또한 제니 변호사는 2010년부터 2015년까지 호주 경쟁 및 소비자 위원회(ACCC) 산하 프랜차이즈 자문위원회(Franchising Consultative Committee) 위원으로 활동했으며, 이어 2016년부터 2018년까지는 후속기구인 소상공인 및 프랜차이즈 자문위원회(Small Business and Franchising Consultative Committee) 위원으로도 활동하며 프랜차이즈 및 소비자법 정책 개발에 기여해왔습니다.

We are pleased to announce that Dr Jenny Buchan has joined H & H Lawyers as Senior Advisor. Jenny is a distinguished expert in franchise and commercial law, notably the first female accredited as a small business specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria. She brings extensive credentials as Professor Emeritus at UNSW and has conducted significant research across Australia, France and the USA. Her expertise was recognised through her appointment to the ACCC's Franchising Consultative Committee from 2010~2018. Jenny's specialisation encompasses franchise law, business transactions, due diligence and dispute resolution, bringing both academic excellence and practical experience to our clients. "We are thrilled to welcome Jenny to our team. Her appointment represents a significant milestone as we expand our expertise in franchise and commercial law," said Managing Partner Kenneth Hong.
