ニュージーランドで法律家としてのキャリアを開始後、オーストラリアに拠点を移し、事業の売買、リース契約、フランチャイズに関する法務を扱う。ビクトリア州Law Instituteにより、初の女性中小企業専門弁護士として認定される。 フランチャイズ法に関しては、デューディリジェンス、紛争解決、マーケティング費用、誠実義務をはじめとするテーマで、調査、執筆、講演を多数行ってきた。オーストラリア、フランス、アメリカにおけるフランチャイズ法の比較研究を監督し、フランチャイズおよび消費者法に関するオーストラリア議会の調査への意見提出を行うほか、スウェーデンおよびオランダにおける博士論文の審査も務める。 2020年、ニューサウスウェールズ大学より名誉教授の称号を授与され、現在は同大学ロースクールにて「民事法の原則」の講義を担当。 オーストラリア競争・消費者委員会（ACCC）のフランチャイズ諮問委員会（2010年～2015年）および後継の中小企業・フランチャイズ諮問委員会（2016年～2018年）に委員として任命されている。

We are pleased to announce that Dr Jenny Buchan has joined H & H Lawyers as Senior Advisor. Jenny is a distinguished expert in franchise and commercial law, notably the first female accredited as a small business specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria. She brings extensive credentials as Professor Emeritus at UNSW and has conducted significant research across Australia, France and the USA. Her expertise was recognised through her appointment to the ACCC's Franchising Consultative Committee from 2010~2018. Jenny's specialisation encompasses franchise law, business transactions, due diligence and dispute resolution, bringing both academic excellence and practical experience to our clients. "We are thrilled to welcome Jenny to our team. Her appointment represents a significant milestone as we expand our expertise in franchise and commercial law," said Managing Partner Kenneth Hong.
