Cassie Lee is a highly experienced lawyer with diverse experience in both civil and criminal law of more than 30 years. After graduating from the University of Sydney, Cassie worked at various large private law firms in Sydney and New York from 1991 to 2001. Cassie then worked as a criminal lawyer at Legal Aid NSW between 2001 and 2008, and as an investigation lawyer at Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) between 2008 and 2018. During her time at ICAC, she was also seconded to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office working on numerous coronial inquiries. Cassie is also a NAATI Certified Translator & Interpreter in Korean and a NAATI Examiner. She speaks English, Korean, Japanese and German.

Experience

  • Worked as a criminal defence lawyer representing clients in a wide range of matters in both state and Commonwealth jurisdictions, appearing as advocate in the Local Court, District Court and Supreme Court for bail applications, sentencing, defended hearings and trials, conviction and severity appeals, applications under mental health legislation and various other related matters.

  • Worked as a Senior Lawyer at ICAC responsible for numerous ICAC investigations, providing advice on legal, strategic and policy issues, conducting private hearings as counsel assisting, instructing in public inquiries and drafting ICAC investigation reports.

  • Worked as a Senior Lawyer for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office.

We are pleased to announce joining of Cassie Lee as Senior Consultant. Cassie is a highly experienced lawyer with diverse experience in both civil and criminal law of more than 30 years. Cassie worked at a number of large private law firms in Sydney and New York from 1991 to 2001. She then became interested in and passionate about criminal law, subsequently working at Legal Aid NSW and Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). During her time at ICAC, Cassie was seconded to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office as a Senior Lawyer overseeing numerous investigations, providing legal, strategic, and policy advice, conducting private hearings and instructing at public and coronial inquiries. Cassie is also a NAATI Certified Translator, Certified Interpreter and NAATI Examiner in Korean. In addition to English and Korean, she speaks Japanese and German.
